Controversa meets Da Sola Stories

For Merry Controversa they created a couple of illustrations called “A Prima Vista” (At First Sight).

Da Sola Stories, is a duo of designers from different backgrounds, like a multi-sided dice. Their brand new graphic design and illustration startup looks to the digital and the future, taking up the iconic 70s and 80s aesthetic. Their textures for Controversa are a voyage of discovery of traits and colors typical of the period, which from near and far tell something very different. "Nothing is as it seems" could be the subtitle of this tale: at first glance definitely Controversa style.

Hi Da Sola Stories! We'd like to ask you to introduce yourself: we'd like to do it in Controversa way though! Thinking of a box containing a kit to tell something more about you, what would we find?

In this box you will find a tea coaster, a chocolate bar, candies, a good ground coffee, a holy card from a trip and finally... a red lipstick!

What aspects of your work do you like the most?

Our friendship.

Looking back, what has been a challenge in your career path?

Telling emotions, stories and diversity through drawing.

What have been the particularly bright moments?

Meetings with people. Receiving proposals of collaboration from structured companies that gave us the opportunity to investigate, analyze and illustrate different worlds.

How did your illustration for Merry Controversa come about?

Both of us have always collected small objects. We have tried to tell the story of winter through micro elements, which have then become symbols, which have turned into textures. Looking at the illustrations today, they reminded us a lot of tie-dye fabrics.

How would you like your box to be reused by those who buy it?

For storing the things you always lose: your phone headphones, battery charger, glasses/sunglasses, keys… But also, and above all... for storing everything that is most dear to you and that you always want to find again!

Controversa was created as a tool for different businesses: what would you like for your professional future? Are there any other tools you feel you need?

Everything that is a desire for the Other is a challenge for us! We would like more stories to be told through our illustrations on as many products/platforms as possible. Personally! We think that adhesive wallpapers are never enough!

To whom would you recommend Controversa?

To anyone who wishes to collect, keep, give, design and preserve their projects.

And now a very Merry Controversial question: if your Christmas was a playlist on Spotify what would you make us listen to?

1) Bastian Baker - HALLELUJAH
2) Midnight Train To georgia - Gladys Knight & The Pips
3) Kate Bush - December Will Be Magic Again
4) Time - Angelo De Augustine
5) Lucio Dalla - L'anno che verrà
6) Only Love Can Break Your Heart - Neil Young
7) Is This Nice? Devendra Banhart
