What kind of Christmas are you?
Some adore it and look forward to it all year, while others don't even want to hear it mentioned...
Some prepare to welcome it with lights, decorations, and feasts, some await it with simplicity, some with anxiety, some with anticipation.
It's clear that we're talking about Christmas, right?
This year, in designing our collection, we thought about all the ways to experience Christmas (or almost) and wanted to depict them with the images that will adorn our Controversa.
From this intention, two illustrations were born that will accompany us in discovering a period with a thousand facets, a thousand faces, and a thousand contradictions.
Hugs Village created by Little Pine Alice and Many Xmas by Diari di Brodo, give us two stories, two styles, two different narratives, weaving through windows and houses, people and animals, celebrations, solitude, and sharing. A journey we will tell and lead you through because in our Christmas, everyone has their own way, but we're all together.
Hugs Village - Little Pine Alice
An open mind, like arms that receive a hug.
An open mind allows us to see beyond our own Christmas, including all the possible facets that find their comfortable space in a rainbow of nuances.
There are a thousand ways to understand Christmas, a thousand and one: our way.
We wanted to represent this: everyone's Christmas in the village of hugs.
There are people and friendly little animals engaged in the most diverse activities. There's Santa Claus who, instead of driving a sleigh, is selling pretzels to a mouse, or maybe he's giving them away. Every situation includes a story, and this illustration resembles a book where interpretations lie beyond words.
There exists a Christmas village where the only rule is to embrace and be embraced.
Embrace a different way while preserving your own, integrating it with others.
Many Xmas - Diari di Brodo
There is no rule, but if we really want one, the only rule should be to feel good!
Each person has their Christmas, with or without candied fruit, between Christmas Eve dinner and the December twenty-fifth lunch. A Christmas where Santa Lucia pats Nicola on the back. A Christmas where reindeer share gluten-free carrots and cookies. A celebration where you can eat and toast or leave, a night of songs or silence. An intimate or shared moment – there's room for everything, a voice for everyone!
We wanted to represent the most "controversial" situations, even the "counter-trend" ones, even the ones you wouldn't expect. This illustration embodies, in telling it, another way of embracing, of including and being included, even when we are the outsiders.
There is no right way, there is your way. And it's always wonderful!
